Dr. Ravi Ramsewak

Dr. Ravi Ramsewak began his medical journey in Trinidad, earning a Bachelor of Science and Medicine at the University of the West Indies.  Propelled by his love of surgery, particularly plastic surgery, he travelled to England for four years of post-graduate training, working at the Whipps Cross Hospital, London, and James Paget Hospital in Great Yarmouth.  He completed the Fellowship exams of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland graduating with his FRCSI in 1999.  He returned to Trinidad for the following five years to practice surgery, continue training and to teach within the medical undergraduate programs of the Caribbean. In 2004 Dr. Ramsewak made the decision to move to Canada, where he joined the surgical team at the Woodstock Hospital and the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, New Brunswick, providing General Surgery, trauma response, dealing with critical illness, and the care of skin malignancies. After six years in New Brunswick, he moved to Ontario where he served as the solo surgeon for the Listowel and Wingham Hospital Alliance for 8 years.  At the peak of his surgical career, a critical illness of his own left him unable to walk independently. Dr. Ramsewak redirected his medical focus and melded his past surgical knowledge and experience with a lifelong passion for skin health and plastics. In 2022 he completed his second postgraduate program with Cardiff University achieving a Diploma in Practical Dermatology and graduating with distinction.
